So, maybe this'll be a good start to the winter as it's due to snow very low tomorrow which is early for recent years! 1200 metres is below Argentière so  it could be skiddy on the roads. Maybe I ought to think about snow tyres or just carying chains but it seems too soon.

It's getting exciting now with not many weeks to go before it all kicks off and a trip to Tignes amready in the pipeline.

Hi Simon,

I know - it's getting so cold & you can start to see the snowline falling. I've been wearing ski pants for the past few days & it's only October.

Yep, it's cold alright. Good

Yep, it's cold alright. Good news is that the home run at Le Tour and the bottom of the Retour de la Pendant chairlift are both above the snowline!

More to come tomorrow as 900metres is forecast as the rain/snow limit!!

Snow in the Chamonix valley on Saturday morning

Well Mimi and I decided that it was a bit too early for winter when we woke up to 5cm of snow in les houches on Saturday. We promptly packed a bag and drove through the tunnel to Turin. Just 2 hrs later we steped out the van into 22 degrees and blue sky. we spent the weekend sight seeing and eating great Italien food. Its the season for truffles there at the moment so we went to a big festival to sample this expensive but fine food. Lets just say truffles taste a lot better than they smell.
